PRETTY LITTLE LIARS RECAP: Shadow Play 4x19

Oh my god, that episode was amazing! I love that Spencer finally figured that sh*t out, and that Toby helped her. Hanna figuring out where Ali was has to be the best thing she's ever done, and I enjoyed having her on as an almost normal human. Spencer also has a small drug issue, and we need to resolve that.

First of all, I would just like to say that Keegan looked so natural in the whole film noir, 1940s style show with dated dialogue and the costumes it isn't even funny. It looks like he could have actually acted in that time period. He was so good! The girls were good too, with the voices and everything.

Let's talk about Paily shall we?

So that happened. Yeah. Basically, Spencer hallucinated Paily sex. If you can call it that. I'd call it heavy making out, but according to Tumblr, they had sex. They had some interesting and random developments in this episode. First, I thought Paige was at Stanford, and I thought they had broken up, so none of this made any sense. This episode shouldn't have changed any of that. I was never a Paily shipper myself. Paige annoys me, and I never really ship Emily with anyone.

Hanna was brilliant. Loved her all the way through, still confused about this mysterious job she suddenly had. I know you can't be a switchboard worker in present day, but I didn't think they were going to spontaneously add a new aspect to her life. It was cool though. And then when they went to the club and found Ali backstage, I died. It was fabulous. The b*tchiness was on overload, but that's my favorite Ali, because it's the most genuine version. It really brings them together as a friend group when they have to fight her off together. The smooth getaway from Mona and Ezra at his apartment was wonderful. Those books must be working, because she is getting way better at this.

Aria though. Come on, girl. This is ridiculous. That end scene when she heard Ezra's voice and then walked towards it even though Spencer told her not to trust it, and everything that happened after made it clear as day as to what was going on. I had faith that she was going to figure it out, and then she opened her mouth when they were in the car and asked a stupid question.

Spencer has a drug issue, and we need to deal. The only proof you need is how freaked she got when she dumped her pills down the garbage disposal by accident and stuck her hand down there to get them back. The shot kept flickering to the on switch and I got so freaked Ali was going to flip it and shred her hand. She needs rehab ASAP, but only after she finally figures out what the hell is going on exactly. Toby encouraging Spencer instead of telling her to stop was great, the yelling in the weird random interrogation room and the car was not necessary. She's way too stressed because of those damn pills, and as soon as she gets off them, she'll be fine.

So overall, the whole B&W theme was great, and I hope they do something like that again. That would be great. Thoughts, comments, theories, down below please!
